DO NOT attempt to work on any Electrical Circuit until you are COMPLETELY aware of all the dangers and have mastered safe techniques.
Part 1: Basics
A video starting with the basics of reading schematics, slanted towards those involving Vacuum Tubes.
Part 2: Power Supplies
This episode is focused on the power supply sections of tube amplifiers. Dynaco Mark III, Fender Deluxe Reverb, and a Single Ended SE KT88 amplifier are used as examples. Also shows the use of Duncan PSU II tool to simulate power supplies.
Part 3: Push Pull
In this episode we try to explain Push Pull Amplifiers and various types of Phase Splitters / Inverters such as the Cathodyne and long tail pair. We look at the Dynaco ST-70 as well as a EL84 PP Amp, and the Fender Deluxe Amplifier.
Part 4a: AC and DC Combined
This episode covers how you can have AC and DC on the same wire at the same point in time, thus having AC Offset by a DC voltage. Also, how do you float AC Filaments above ground with DC.
Part 4b: AC and DC Combined
Answering a question I received a few times on my AC & DC Combined video. Hopefully this will help you understand why the filament doesn't fry with 350+ volts sitting on it.
Part 5: Phono and Preamps
This episode focuses on aspects of preamps and phono amps. RIAA compensation, DBs, Frequency Response, Audio Signal Levels, Signal to Noise Ratio, Impedance, and a few circuit examples.
Part 6: Grounding
An explanation of various Grounding Techniques seen in Tube Amplifiers and how they are represented via schematics (not often so accurately). We cover star ground, buss (bus) ground, and combinations of the two as well as Earth Ground.
