Vladimir Kush was born in a small one-story wooden house on the northern edge of Moscow, near the forest-park, Sokolniki, where, in patriarchal times, Russian Tsars were engaged in falconry.

Kush was a prodigy, showing artistic ability at the age of three or four. The aptitude for drawing that Vladimir displayed so early was inherited genetically from his grandmother.

His father, Oleg Kush, had a strong influence over Vladimir’s views and choice of style. He was engaged in computer calculations of optical devices for the Russian space program. He was also inspired by lofty art, the avant-garde style that revived after the Iron Curtain collapsed in the 1980’s.
