This mural was created by the Brigada Salvador Allende, a Chilean exile Artist Collective, in East Berlin in the early 1980s.
The Brigada was formed by Chilean Artists and Political Activists who fled the country after the 1973 Military Coup that overthrew President Salvador Allende.

Their mission was to use Public Art - especially Murals - to express Solidarity, Resistance, and Socialist Ideals, inspired by the Chilean muralist tradition that flourished during Allende's presidency.

This particular mural, located on the Berlin Wall's East Side, symbolizes the international connection between Socialist Movements and the fight against oppression worldwide. The vibrant colors, symbolic figures, and imagery - like the Chilean flag and the dove of peace - represent the unity between nations and peoples struggling for Freedom, Justice, and Peace.

The work stands as a visual reminder of the global impact of Chile's political history and how Art became a medium of Political Expression and Resistance during the Cold War, especially in divided Berlin.
